The Howling Wind

A Sijo
By Andrea Gianna Villamil
Grade 8 - Dignity

Though we are friends, don’t be arrogant and don’t tell me what to do.
No matter how the wind howls, the bamboo will never be broken.
If you can stop the wind, then I can acknowledge you for that.

Squad

A Sijo
By Adrian Louise Aniñon
Grade 8 - Dignity

The sun rises again in a place where we used to have fun.
Every day, we gather around like flowers waving around;
A place where memories were made with the most annoying friends.

'Til Next Time

An Elegy
By Rhoda Maribojoc
Grade 9 - Mercy

Everybody feels the sorrow
Over the time that they borrow.
And now, you’re gone.
You were shot with a gun.

I burst into tears.
This was my worst of fears.
We never said goodbye,
And now I can't help but cry.

The memories we had
Were both good and bad.
And now you’re with Him.
You were nothing but a dream.

Memories

An Elegy
By Amaziah Lily Anne de Rosas
Grade 9 - Mercy

Everybody is broken
For someone was taken.
Everybody burst into tears
Because of their fears.

And now, you are gone.
It doesn’t mean that we’re done.
The worries I had
Were not that bad.

The times I spent with you, though,
Not even the wind can blow.
We were still seven
When you were taken to heaven.

Buddy

An Elegy
By Linoel Hahn Lantaca
Grade 9 - Mercy

You were their inspiration,
And not to mention their motivation.
We always thought losing you was impossible.
It turns out nothing is untakeable.

I’m glad I had the chance to know you.
My world was so wonderful with you.
When I lost you, I broke down
Like glass shattered to pieces.
I couldn’t believe my ever dearest buddy
Would be taken like first kisses.

All praises I give to thee
For being an inspiration to me.
I couldn’t ask for a better relationship
Than this special thing we call friendship.

Friendship

By Jose Enrico Mawiwang
Grade 7 - Unity

Your foundation will strongly stand.
You will forever lend a hand.
Your future’s always grand.
And the obstacles, you’ll forebear and withstand.

You will fight for what’s right.
Your fort will be filled with might.
Your feelings will be full of delight.
And your good flashbacks will become good insight.

You will forgive those who wronged you.
Your face will never be blue.
You will finish the race you went through.
But always remember that I will be a friend to you.

Kings and Queens

A Graduation Tribute
By Christopher Ebo III,
Benisse Calmleth Famat,
& Primrose Manlosa

Junior high was filled with endless jokes,
And winding roads to dreams and hopes.
We are a symphony of laughter and noise.
Love is our language; music is our voice.

One could say our class is the Jack of all trades.
We are twenty-two Kings and Queens on parade.
We’ve been a royal family for these past few years.
All we’ve accomplished deserves three cheers.

God has blessed each of us with unique gifts
And we praise our Heavenly Father with our lips.
Our hearts are united; our differences make us one.
And we give glory and honor to Jesus Christ, the Son.

But now we’re heading towards an unfamiliar road
And leaving behind this unwanted load.
Taking little baby steps into adulthood
Is honestly scary, but it’s for our own good.

The years we spent together, we’ll never forget.
Each moment we’ll cherish and never regret.
We stick like glue through all the bliss and strife.
Thank God that He allowed us to meet in this life.

Now we’re going on our separate ways.
It’s a challenge that sooner or later we all face.
Although it’s time to say goodbye to each other,
The memories of our friendship shall live on forever.

Waiting for a Friend

A Sonnet by Lilian Ruth Joyce Cutang
Grade  9 - Mercy

It’s been a long day without you, my friend.
I cannot wait until we meet again.
I don’t want to give up until the end,
For I don’t want this to happen again.
We go through mountains, but we stay the same.
I do not know what will happen to us.
When we are in trouble, you take the blame.
I should’ve done the same, but chose the bus.
You treat me like a sister than a friend.
You are different than others over there.
I will wait for you because you’re my friend.
When I feel down, you are always right there.
Yesterday, tomorrow, even today,
I will wait for you, for I feel okay.

I Have a Friend

A Sonnet by Angellie Niñal
Grade 9 - Mercy

I have a best friend, a true friend indeed.
She is not perfect, but she completes me.
When I am worried, she is all I need.
When my world turns dark, she is all I see.
Time passes by and memories can fade.
We live life like there’s no tomorrow.
Time is fast; we can only live a day
And walk, even though the road is narrow.
She travelled far, I’m going to miss her.
I am going to wait for her through time.
I miss her because she is my sister.
We do silly things, just like solving crimes.
We have been through the darkest times of life,
That is why I made it all through the night.

Kirk, My Friend

A Sonnet by Aldefelkem Morales
Grade 9 - Mercy

Kirk always helps me with all my problems;
Teaches me in every situation.
You and I are searching for an emblem.
You listen to me, my motivation.
I am always there for you, Kirk, my friend.
You’re always there for me no matter what.
If you saw another friend, it would end.
If you changed your attitude, I will not.
I’m always there for you; I will not leave.
Ever since we met, we’ve been good buddies.
Everything I learned from you is the best.
Here in the Philippines, there are ladies.
I am the true friend you can always trust.
Shawn, Marco, and I—you can trust in us.
